Gardens at Temple Newsam
A short stroll from the house and farm you’ll be greeted by Rhododendron Walk, planted with material collected by previous owners of Temple Newsam and beautifully developed over the years.
Within the Walled Garden discover 800 yards of outstanding herbaceous borders, rose beds and herbs set within the beautifully aged 18th century brick walls, a truly peaceful spot to take a break.
Recently, for the first time in over 100 years, vegetable growing was reintroduced in the garden. Managed by staff, trainees and volunteers, this home-grown produce will be used in the Tea Rooms and any surplus will be available in Mrs Pawson’s Shop in the Courtyard.
Wander through the formal south garden, adjacent to the house this garden reflects 17th century design with beech and box hedges, trained laburnum arches and a pleached hornbeam walk.
