Two hour skate jam session hosted with instructor Ro Elliott.

Have you ever wanted to skate inside an art gallery? You can book a free place at our Open Skate Jam upstairs in the beautiful Central Court space at Leeds Art Gallery. This Skate Jam is hosted by Ro Elliott (GB instructor).

Skateboarders can explore the steel sculptures by Dani Abulhawa called Drift Tricks installed in the space. The steel sculptures themselves reference the current climate emergency and its possible future effects, with Abulhawa imagining a future scenario where strong winds dislodge fragments of buildings that crash to the ground, becoming places for ‘creative recyclers of the city’ the play on.

These skate sessions are open for skateboard sessions only, no rollerblades, scooters or bikes.

More about Ro Elliott

Ro (they/them) is a positive, friendly coach, and is exceptional at building relationships with young people. They have had a lot of experience in coaching minority groups, creating safe and inclusive spaces for all. Ro Elliott is a qualified first aider.

If the event is fully booked you are still welcome to come (drop-in) but priority will be given to those who have booked and there will be a max capacity of 20 skaters in a session.
