At Temple Newsam we can help you deliver diverse, creative, skills-based learning across many different curriculum areas. Discover our workshops and download learning resources to help plan your visit.

Our Learning Team offer a range of themed packages linked to the National Curriculum using the House and Estate’s collections and stories to enhance all styles of learning.

Schools and other educational groups are welcome to visit the House, Farm and estate on a self-led basis.

Self-led school and group visits


Please email temple.newsam.house@leeds.gov.uk (House) or temple.newsam@leeds.gov.uk (Farm & Park) with your preferred dates and provide details of your group (group size, age and whether you are a Leeds authority school).

Either of these contacts can help you with a joint visit to both the House and Farm.

Please note the House and Farm are closed on a Monday during term-time.

Meet the livestock at Temple Newsam Home Farm for this farm based workshop that is developed to suit each Key Stage.

The Woodland Hunt workshop

Explore where the wild things are on the estate whilst listening to stories of fabulous creatures that live in the woods. Search for the tiniest creatures that live there and have a go at creating a minibeast mansion.

Signs of the Seasons

Discover signs of the seasons whilst exploring the Lotherton and Temple Newsam estates. Observe and learn about the seasonal changes that take place.

Estate Explorers

Embark on a guided nature walk and learn about the wilder side of Lotherton and Temple Newsam Look for evidence of feeding, tracks and trails around out Estates.

Plant Life Cycles

Investigate the local plantlife and explore the part that flowers play in the life cycle of plants.
