Filming at Temple Newsam

Temple Newsam is a great filming location in Yorkshire for period dramas, tv, films, and photography. The estate is conveniently located close to Leeds, and provides a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.

The estate includes a country house with over 40 rooms and some of the finest collections of decorative arts outside of London. The interiors range from Tudor to Victorian and include the servants quarters, magnificent Rococo-style Picture Gallery.

Linked to the House is the original farm, now home to the largest selection of rare-breed animals in Europe. It boasts cobbled streets, authentic outbuildings, and continues to operate as a working farm.

The wider gardens include national plant collections, a romantic walled garden, verdant rolling parkland, woodlands and lakes, landscaped by Capability Brown.

Temple Newsam has previously been used as a location for Gentleman Jack, which filmed there for series 2. The Chinese Drawing Room, The Georgian Library and Mr Woods Library were all used. Other productions to film at Temple Newsam include Victoria and Johnathan Strange and Mr Norrell.

We are proud to work alongside Screen Yorkshire in promoting Yorkshire as a filming destination.
