Sociable History Club is our monthly talks series for adults with guest speakers and a different theme each time.

Join our guest speaker, librarian Wren Rowan, to learn about the murky and mysterious history of the Kingdom of Elmet.

Elmet was a small, independent Brittonic kingdom which existed for nearly 300 years in the area that is now West Yorkshire. Not much is known about this mysterious region - its origins in the Roman period, its Celtic-speaking inhabitants, and its invasion by Anglo-Saxon Northumbria.

Come along to this free talk talk to unpick the mystery, along with refreshments.

This talk is part of Leeds City Museum’s Sociable History Club, our monthly talks series for adults with guest speakers and a different theme each time.

This event is free, donations are gratefully received.
