Creative exploratory art session for all ages at Leeds Art Gallery.

“When children interact with loose parts, they enter a world of “what if” that promotes the type of thinking that leads to problem solving and theoretical reasoning. Loose parts enhance children’s ability to think imaginatively and see solutions, and they bring a sense of adventure and excitement to children’s play”.

Dale and Beloglovsky

The second of two special sessions taking place at the gallery, this early years session hosted by The Play Tent will start by taking a close look at exhibition Towards a Fourth Dimension, before heading to Central Court to explore some inspiring loose parts. The children will have complete creative freedom to explore their own ideas in response to the exhibtion and the materials offered to them.

They will be invited to explore the enticing collections offered and compose their own loose part art in any way they choose. The work they produce may be photographed by the children (or their grown ups) as a way of documenting their explorations.

The session will be led by Victoria Lungu who has a decade of experience working creatively with young children as an Atelierista. Her practice is very much inspired by the preschools of Reggio Emilia and their strong pedagogical belief in the power and competency of young children.
