Sponsor a Rose
Support a rose and become part of the legacy of a famous Edwardian garden as its revival is taking root.
Join us as we start a programme of works restoring our gardens to their former Edwardian Glory. This spring we have started extensive works in our walled garden including restoring our rose beds.*
10 varieties of roses have been chosen that would have been prevalent around the turn of the illustrated picture in 1916.
With the garden now being restored to the jewel of the estate that it once was, those with an interest in keeping its memory alive can get involved by supporting a rose bush. You will pick a plant from a planting plot with a specific location and variety and watch as the bush develops over the years.
Each person supporting a rose will also be able to choose the exact plot where their bush is planted.
You will receive a certificate of authenticity including the variety and plot number framed and signed by our lead gardener, will have a chance to enter into a bespoke ledger to capture the moment that will become part of the houses historic archive and will be invited annually as guests of our gardening team to talk roses and pick up on wider gardening tips. We will also guarantee your bush for 5 years in case of disease.
*phase 1 will be completed in April 2026 with phase 2 being started in February 2027.
The walled garden at Lotherton Hall was designed at the end of the 19th century by Mrs Laura Gwendolen Gascoigne, the wife of Colonel Frederick R.T.T. Gascoigne who inherited the estate in 1893.
Sponsor a rose for £75 or £65 for Lotherton members.
