At Lotherton we offer a range of workshops and tours at our beautiful country estate.

 

We specialise in history, science, and art curriculum-linked workshops.

All our workshops can be differentiated for SEND. We can add or take away sensory elements, adapt or combine workshops for different ages and abilities.

The First World War hospital at Lotherton School Workshop

Discover the local history of Lotherton as a Voluntary Aid Detachment hospital during the First World War.

WW2 Evacuation Role Play School Workshop

Immerse yourself in a significant point of British history and evacuate your pupils back in time to the Second World War at Lotherton.

Introducing Florence Nightingale and Her Friends School Workshop

Meet the young Florence Nightingale, cousin to the Gascoigne family of Lotherton. With their owl puppets, pupils will listen to Florence’s stories and more.

What’s the scoop on poop? School Workshop

Join us for an engaging and interactive outdoor workshop where pupils will explore the fascinating world of digestion and animal life through… poo!

Who eats who?

Pupils discover the reasons animals need to eat and the differences between herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.

Living in the Dark

Pupils will explore how nocturnal animals are adapted to living in their dark environment. You will also experience our Nocturnal House at Wildlife World

Adaptation Investigators

Pupils discover how animals are adapted to increase their chances of survival, through behavioural or physical/anatomical traits.

All About Penguins!

A workshop solely about one of our favourite species at Wildlife World – penguins! Best suited for our younger visitors in Reception and Year 1.

Lotherton Topic Days Workshop

Lotherton is a grand country home set in a large estate, surrounded by beautiful gardens and Wildlife World zoo.

Habitats Workshop

Pupils explore the rainforest and polar habitats. What are they like and how do the animals survive there?

Classification Workshop

Pupils become ‘mini-zoologists’ during this session as we explore how animals can be grouped by their characteristics.

Rainforests

Pupils will explore the animals, plants and resources found in the rainforest. They discover threats to the rainforest and what they can do to help.

Signs of the Seasons

Discover signs of the seasons whilst exploring the Lotherton and Temple Newsam estates. Observe and learn about the seasonal changes that take place.
