Artists working on silver pieces for Reflections in Silver Exhibition at Temple Newsam

Reflections in Silver

Temple Newsam is proud to unveil two new commissions of contemporary silver by leading silversmiths Miriam Hanid and Yusuke Yamamoto.

Drawing inspiration from Temple Newsam’s exceptional silver holdings - one of the most significant collections in the country - as well as the textures, patterns and stories found across the house, gardens and wider landscape, both artists have crafted pieces that bridge centuries of creativity. Their new works echo the craftsmanship and artistry of the past while bringing a striking contemporary voice into the collection.

The exhibition also showcases a behind‑the‑scenes film following each artist’s journey from first impressions of the estate to the final shaping and polishing of their designs. Sketches, drawings, models and test pieces are displayed alongside the finished works, offering a rare glimpse into the meticulous processes that define contemporary silversmithing.
