A powerful coming-of-age story about identity, family, and self-acceptance.

Alike (Adepero Oduye), a 17-year-old Black teenager in Brooklyn, is quietly embracing her identity as a lesbian but faces pressure to conform at home and school. Struggling between the expectations of her deeply religious mother and her own desire for self-expression, she navigates friendships, romance and the complexities of growing up. Written and directed by Dee Rees, Pariah is a deeply personal and visually striking drama that captures the emotional highs and lows of self-discovery.
