Join us at the Stable Courtyard for a Strohsterne Christmas Decoration workshop.

Before plastic baubles, tinsel and string lights, Christmas trees were decorated in a much simpler way. In northern European countries such as Germany, Sweden etc a tradition of making delicate straw stars evolved and is still popular today. In this two hour workshop, you will be introduced to the art of Strohsterne and learn about the symbolism behind these delicate celestial decorations before creating your own variants ready to take home and hang on your tree or add to gift wrapping.

All materials will be provided and no prior crafting experience is needed. Using natural wheat stalks, cotton thread and simple tools you will be shown how to craft a range of intricate designs which are both eco-friendly and perfect for adding a touch of rustic charm to your holiday décor.
