Community exhibition

The Twinkling Horizon

Servants' Hall, Lotherton Hall, until 12 October 2025

This community display is the story of the Leeds Poor Children’s Camp in Silverdale, Lancashire and how it was started by Helen Currer-Briggs, the Lady Mayoress of Leeds in 1904. It sadly closed in 2016 and was renamed the Leeds Children’s Charity at Lyneham Farm.

60,000 people went to the camp over the years and this display explores the history of the camp alongside its continued legacy within the community.
