Access at Leeds Discovery Centre
Entrance
Leeds Discovery Centre is located 1.5 miles by foot or 3.4 miles by car from Leeds city centre.
Pedestrian access to Leeds Discovery Centre is via Carlisle Road, which is flat and accessible. The entrance door is via a button which rings a bell to advise a member of the team to open the doors. The doors are automatic with a wide clearing space.
What 3 Words
What3Words is a location app which provides exact location points based on 3 metre squares. Every 3 metre square of the world has been given a unique combination of three words which can be shared with friends and family, emergency services and more to pinpoint locations easily.

Accessible parking
There are two designated accessible parking spaces in the free car park at Leeds Discovery Centre. Access from the car park to the entrance is up a long and gradual ramp. An accessible ramp at the back of the museum can be used for evacuation in emergencies.
Accessible toilets
There are accessible toilets on both floors of Leeds Discovery Centre and facilities in the accessible toilets include emergency alarms and fire alarm with a flashing light. These toilets are not RADAR key operated.
Baby changing
Baby changing facilities are available in the accessible toilets on both floors.
Assistance dogs
Guide and assistance dogs are welcome and we can provide dog bowls on request.
Wheelchair access
The education spaces and museum collections store are situated on the ground floor of Leeds Discovery Cente and there is level access throughout. There is a lift to the first floor meeting room and offices.
A wheelchair is available to borrow for visits. Unfortunately we cannot provide assistance around the museum for wheelchair users. Please contact us in advance of your visit to ensure the wheelchair is available.
Induction loops
Induction loops are in place in the entrance and education room.
Sensory guide
Our sensory guide can help you navigate the spaces at Leeds Discovery Centre. The guide maps out noise and sound levels, light levels, as well as space and seating. Leeds Discovery Centre is open to the public by appointment only so if you would prefer to visit at a quieter, less crowded, time please let us know when booking and we can arrange that for you.
