LEGO® Build the Change

Bring your class to Leeds Industrial Museum to design, build, evaluate and share a solution to a real-world sustainability challenge using LEGO® bricks in this hands-on workshop.

We face a planetary emergency. Earth is now changing fast under the influence of human behaviour and our impacts on the natural world. This workshop is designed to get pupils thinking creatively about the solutions and skills that are needed to tackle the biggest challenges of our time to prepare them for the future.

In this workshop, pupils will explore a sustainability challenge to respond to based on issues we have around our museum. The three options available are Cleaner Rivers, Rewilding, and Green Energy. They will use their imagination to build a solution to the challenge and evaluate their creations before joining together to improve and work on their designs in a collaborative second build challenge. The session will end with a presentation and reflection on what they have learned, what skills they have practiced and how those will help them build the future they want to create.

We can also come to you! Let us know if you’d like us to come to your school to run these LEGO workshops.

This activity has been made possible through the partnership between the Natural History Museum and the LEGO Group as part of their Build the Change programme. Build the Change is a sustainability program all about giving children a voice and allowing them to express their hopes and ideas for a better future.

Ahead of the workshop we will: discuss your chosen topic, book in the date, arrange for a pre-visit and send out health and safety info.

Most suitable for: KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4, sustainability and the environment subject
