Portrait Conversations
Coinciding with an exhibition of drawn portraits, Silent Echoes, Spoken Truths: Curtis Holder, this hour and a half workshop will foster confidence in expressive mark-making alongside understanding that a portrait conveys more than the likeness of someone.
Groups will :
- explore selected drawings within the exhibition to foster vocabulary useful for analysing pictures of people
- develop awareness of the role conversation between the sitter and the artist has in building a relationship valuable for both the depiction of identity and understanding human experience
- make portraits of classmates through expressive mark-making
- reflect on the process of making a portrait – looking closely and being looked at
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
This workshop is only available between 13 January – 28 March 2025.
