A playful exploration of Leeds Art Gallery and the artworks on display. Your young ones will be warmly welcomed into the gallery and encouraged to explore, play and make art their own way whilst enjoying curiosity, discovery and creative expression.

All under 5s welcome, including very young babies. Sessions are supported by an experienced Early Years practitioner who will make an imaginative environment with materials and ideas influenced by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia.

Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October 2026
Inspired by the forthcoming exhibition 'Steve McQueen: Resistance – How Protest Shaped Britain and Photography Shaped Protest' and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, this special session encourages young children to explore ways of expressing their thoughts, feelings and ideas. Families will experiment with different forms of communication and contribute to conversations that will help shape the next Artspace family installation.

Thursday 26 and Friday 27 November 2026
In this session we will spend time exploring the exhibition before heading into Artspace for creative activities inspired by black-and-white photography. Discover images of people, groups, gatherings and flags, and explore through sensory activities designed especially for young children.

Thursday 17 and Friday 18 December 2026
Join together for a session taking inspiration from the Dinner Party exhibition and its colour, texture and imaginative design. Children and families can build, shape, rearrange and create together.

Thursday 21 and Friday 22 January 2027
Based within Artspace and inspired by its family installation, this bright and playful session explores light, connection and democracy. Through hands-on activities and creative play, children will discover how light can transform spaces, spark curiosity and bring people together in positive and imaginative ways.
