Artist talk: Accelerator Bursary

Hannah Guy, Reece Kelly and Alegria Repila Smith are all recipients of the Accelerator Bursary, a new initiative funded by Leeds Art Fund. The programme aims to support artists through the transition out of art school into their early career, providing them with access to a shared studio at Assembly House, as well as mentoring from professionals and more experienced artists.

In conversation with Leeds Art Gallery curator Dr Elizaveta Butakova, Hannah, Reece and Alegria will each present their work, which spans photography, installation, textiles and performance. As well as giving an insight into their processes, they will discuss the role of the studio played in the contemporary artistic practice based on their own experiences of the last year, and the importance of artist-led spaces such as Assembly House.

Located in Armley, Assembly House is home to 65 contemporary artists and creatives, and hosts regular events by and for studio artists and the surrounding community in Armley.
