The 1152 Club is a history and heritage talks series for people aged 55 and over, held at Abbey House Museum.

We meet in the Gatehouse at Abbey House Museum one Tuesday a month. Doors open at 10am and talks begin at 10.15am. Tea and coffee is provided on a Pay As You Feel basis. Highlights of a selection of upcoming talks can be found below.

Literature in Leeds exhibition talk, with Pat Bourne

Join Assistant Community Curator Pat Bourne for this talk about Abbey House Museum's 2025-26 exhibition 'Literature in Leeds: Prose, Poetry and Plays', which involved asking local writers what inspires their works, and reaching out to some local bookshop owners, and asking them to contribute objects, photos, labels and interviews to this community display.

Music Leeds Us: an exhibition talk with Esther Amis-Hughes

Join Community Engagement Manager Esther Amis-Hughes as she showcases this 2025-26 exhibition at Leeds City Museum that celebrates 60 years of music in Leeds, marking the 60th anniversary of Leeds Conservatoire. The exhibition explores the city's musical heritage through objects, stories, and personal accounts from the goth, jazz, and punk scenes to more recent genres. It features highlights from the city's music history, personal stories, and includes live performances, secret sets, and open mic events.

Irish History Month with the Irish Arts Foundation

Join the Irish Arts Foundation as we celebrate Irish History Month with an appropriately themed edition of our 1152 Club. Expect a musical introduction followed by a presentation on an aspect of Irish history. With Des Hurley and friends.
