Ludd in the Machine
17 August 2026 - 13 August 2028
Leeds Industrial Museum
A community led exhibition which focuses on trade unions and worker's rights from 1812 to AI.
This exhibition has been written with 9 passionate volunteers and tells the stories of Luddites, workers rights during the 1970s and 1980s and discusses our current striking practices regarding AI and the modern job market.
The 'Luddite Riots' sparked a wave of protests across the country in 1812, protesting wage reductions and new machniery that was causing job lose. Trade Unions were legalised just 12 years later, but how have they changed since the 19th century?
In the everchanging landscape today, how have worker's rights changed today? What impact does AI have?
