Group Visits to Abbey House Museum
Whether you choose exclusive access to the museum on a Monday, or to come at a quieter time on a weekday afternoon, these packages are tailored to suit your group.
Packages are £85 for up to 12 people and £135 for up to 20 people.
Each two hour session will include a talk, and a chance to either explore museum collections up close or take a tour of one of our museum galleries. Visits include light refreshments (coffee, tea and biscuits) in our stunning Gatehouse.

Leonora Cohen
Examine the life of Leeds Suffragette Leonora Cohen drawing on ephemera partly donated by Leonora herself, including her involvement with the WSPU and her continued campaigning and activities after the vote was won.
Women’s Lives
An exploration of how the lives of women have changed over the last 200 years. We’ll talk about changes in the home, education, and the workplace, with a chance to look up close at some of the objects that reflect how things have progressed.
An introduction to Social History
A chance to learn about social history, what it tells us about the past and how it can help us understand how people have lived. The session will use objects from the Leeds Museums and Galleries collections to highlight a selection of social history stories from around the city over the last two hundred years.
Food and Drink
Eating is a key part of life, so this is an opportunity to look at food traditions, techniques and ingredients from the local area. We will also focus on recipes and special occasions, exploring menus from the past.
Victorian Children
A session focussing on Victorian toys and games but also looking at changes in education and child labour in 19th century Leeds.
Twentieth Century Childhood
A nostalgic look at 20th century toys and games in the Leeds museum collections, including those made by the Leeds firm Waddingtons. There is also a chance to look back at school life and Leeds Children's Day.
Death and Disease in 19th Century Leeds

Explore mourning traditions and healthcare options in 1800s Leeds and look afresh at our Victorian Street from the perspective of the living conditions of those who inhabited them.
Queen Victoria
We are amused. Not just a serious old lady dressed in black and scowling at the camera, Queen Victoria had a long life full of many contradictions, from bright vivacious saviour of the monarchy to surviving 7 assassination attempts. This talk explores her personality and achievements.
Kirkstall Lives
What was it like to live in nineteenth century Kirkstall? From shops and recreation to work, housing and religious observance, this session allows you to explore how the area around the museum and Abbey has evolved over time.
