Ancient Worlds: Egyptians School Workshop

At Leeds City Museum

An Egyptian mummy casket

This popular workshop explores our archaeology collections.

Pupils will learn about the life of the mummified person Nesyamun. They will discover more about Nesyamun’s beliefs and culture by looking at hieroglyphs and artefacts, and by working together to mummify a doll.

In this workshop, students will explore our Ancient Worlds gallery, completing a task to help a mummified person reach the afterlife – they’ll then discuss with a facilitator the life of the mummified person in the museum. When returning to the education space, students will take part in their own mummification: working as a team to prepare and wrap a doll for their journey into the afterlife.

Suitable for: Early Years, KS1, KS2
