Step back in time and wander through our enchanting streets, shops and houses to experience life as a Victorian in Leeds. Our 24 hour sound track helps you immerse yourself in the sounds and conversations going on around you. Enter our pub, Hark to Rover, sit at one of the tables and imagine how life felt over a hundred years ago.

Upstairs there is the Storytime exhibition, our collection of books show how Victorian children were taught to read, from basic spelling books through to fairy tales and modern day reading books. Old penny machines allow you to have a go, will you win on the pinball machine, or guess the murderer in the 'Murder In The Museum'?

The childhood gallery is full of Victorian toys, games, dolls, move along through the decades to toys and games you may remember as a child, did you own a Womble? A Jenny's Home? Or an Action Man? Read a book in our cosy nook (inside the old woman's shoe!).

Literature in Leeds: Prose, Poetry and Plays is the final exhibition you will find. It's a display co-curated with authors, poets and screenwriters from Leeds, who have picked out objects that have inspired their works for our community space.

Throughout the museum you will find interactives, where you can listen, learn and join in.
