Lesley Newnham will talk about the Leeds Victorian ceramics company which rivalled Doulton and Minton in popularity. Some Burmantofts pieces from the Discovery Centre's collection will be on display.

Burmantofts Pottery was a company which employed some of the leading sculptural and architectural names of the age and which invented many new techniques. It was internationally famous at its height and its Art Pottery is still very collectable today. There are many existing buldings which have Burmantofts faience embellishment in Leeds, nationally and even as far away as Rio de Janeiro.
