Reopening information

In response to coronavirus (COVID‑19), opening hours, booking systems and the visitor offer across our museums and galleries have changed. These changes are due to the measures we have put in place to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff.

What visitors need to do

Visitors to our sites must:

  • Maintain social distancing
  • Adhere to the rule of 6
  • Follow one-way systems, signage and guidance from our staff
  • Use hand sanitiser stations
  • Wear a face covering inside our buildings unless exempt
  • Pay via contactless payment wherever possible

All of our museums and galleries have the official ‘We’re Good to Go’ supporting mark to signal our commitment to following government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and to show that we have processes in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

When visiting our museums and galleries people must adhere to the Rule of 6 which means you can only visit in groups of up to 6 (unless visiting as a household or support bubble which is larger than 6). This applies to both indoor and outdoor locations.

Planning your visit

Please visit the relevant venue online to find up-to-date visitor information including opening times, which areas open to the public and access information.

Test and Trace to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and support the NHS we will ask visitors for contact details when entering our museums, galleries and cafes. Staff will be on hand to take your details or you can check in using the NHS App and scanning a QR code

The app will help the NHS understand if the virus is spreading in a particular area, and so local authorities can respond quickly to stop it spreading further and save lives. The app does this while protecting a user’s anonymity. Nobody, including the government, will know who or where a particular user is.

Your data will be handled in accordance with GDPR regulations. It will be stored securely for 21 days and only shared with the NHS if requested by the Test and Trace service.
