Found Cities, Lost Objects
Exploring the urban environment through the eyes of women
and gender non-conforming artists
We’re excited to be working on a new opportunity for Leeds artists and creatives in partnership with Arts Council Collection and Lubaina Himid Projects. To celebrate Arts Council Collection’s latest touring exhibition, Found Cities, Lost Objects curated by Lubaina Himid CBE, currently at Leeds Art Gallery until 21 April 2024, we are inviting submissions from Leeds-based artists to create a billboard artwork or design. Artists are asked to respond to the themes of the exhibition in the context of the vibrant, multicultural city of Leeds. Three artists will be selected in total. The selected artists will be asked to finalise their artwork by 22 March.
The fee is £1200 per artist.
We are inviting submissions from artists currently living or working in Leeds or who have previously lived in the area for a substantial period of time. We welcome submissions from those who identify as female or gender nonconforming for this commission and encourage those who are from global majority and/or disabled, in recognition of the systemic and current lack of diversity in the arts.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Please see the attached PDF with further information about how to submit to this opportunity.
If you would like to submit your proposal through audio or video, or discuss your proposal further please contact Beth Hughes: [email protected]
