Located in the Old Chalk Warehouse, our Thwaite at 30 display is now on view for visitors to learn all about the history of our much loved watermill.

Since opening as a museum in 1990, Thwaite Watermill has been a much loved place for people to learn all about their shared past. There has been a mill on the natural bend in the river at Thwaite for hundreds of years. Products produced onsite were varied and often surprising: from textiles to putty, via lubricants for sports cars and even food for local prisons!

Thwaite Watermill has undergone many changes over the years and you can now learn all about it during your visit.

Please call ahead to ensure the display is open. We occasionally have to close the space for weddings and private hire.

If you would like to discuss SEND or access requirements before your visit please email [email protected] or call 0113 378 2983.
