11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Venue Temple Newsam
Join us on the last Wednesday of every month for an hour of sociable history in Temple Newsam House.
In November, join Curator of Textiles Natalie Raw for a talk about historic undergarments! We’ll take a closer look at some of the amazing portraits displayed at Temple Newsam to discover what was worn underneath the fine garments on show. Using historical garments from the dress and textile collection we will explore the vital role underclothes have played – from the practicalities of comfort and cleanliness to the more extremes of undergarments worn to mould and shape the body.
There’s no need to book ahead, just drop in but please note that sessions are limited to 45 guests and offered on a first come first served basis. It’s free to attend and refreshments will be provided.
