Join us for a range of inspiring dance performances throughout the day at Leeds Art Gallery from South Asian Arts UK.

WOOD is a new work by South Asian Arts that brings together two different Indian classical dance styles (Kathak and Odissi) with live music by the highly talented mulit-instrumentalist Vijay Venkat on bansuri (bamboo flute).

The pieces respond to the sculpture currently on display at the gallery in Woodwork – A Family Tree of Sculpture. Taking into consideration the shape, texture and colours as well as animating the journey and transformation that each sculpture has taken,  from its beginnings as a tree to a new form as chosen by the artist.
