Talk: Keepers of the City’s Queer Past
09 December 2021
10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Venue Leeds City Museum
A talk on the keepers of the city’s queer past.
The recent West Yorkshire Queer Stories project brought all kinds of donations to Leeds’s museums and archives from local LGBTQ+ people.
Dr Ross Horsley joins us from the Thackray Museum of Medicine to look at how these new items have helped to diversify our heritage collections and highlight underrepresented voices within the region’s history.
About West Yorkshire Queer Stories
From Wetherby to Wakefield, Cleckheaton to Castleford, everyone has a memory worth sharing. From 2018-2020 West Yorkshire Queer Stories collected stories about LGBTIQ+ life, from the everyday to the extraordinary. We interviewed people from across the region to make sure that LGBTIQ+ voices were captured and conserved as part of local history.
