Sociable History Club: The City Whale

Come along to our Sociable History Club to hear about the story of our long-finned pilot whale.

We’ve been collecting natural science specimens in Leeds for nearly 200 years. In 1868 the skeleton of a long-finned pilot whale was donated to the collections of Leeds Museum and Galleries. It is going back on display in Autumn 2019 at Leeds City Museum after a long absence, thanks to generous funding from the national lottery Heritage Fund, the Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society and the Friends of Leeds City Museums.
