NHS Critical Carers display
01 February 2022 - 06 June 2022
Venue Leeds City Museum
Leeds City Museum’s community corridor hosts an installation created by NHS critical care staff as part of the ‘reset day’ programme organised by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The reset days were organised to help staff prioritise their own wellbeing after the enormous challenges the teams faced during the pandemic.
Staff right across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust continue to fight at the front line of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. As with their NHS colleagues, the Adult Critical Care team are caring for the people of Leeds hour by hour with selfless courage, determination and service, but they are experiencing emotional and physical hardship on an unprecedented scale.
‘What we go through, together’ is a display of more than 600 origami butterflies, each with a personal message, created by NHS staff and brought to life by local artist Aimee Grundell. As a symbol of transformation, re-birth and change, the butterfly gives us the optimism to move on.
