Natural Encounters Virtual Tour
Date/Time
20 May 2021
10:00 am - 11:00 am
Venue Leeds Art Gallery
Join our Curator Laura Claveria, on a virtual tour of Natural Encounters. It will be the last chance to see the exhibition before it closes.
Drawing from the Leeds collection, ‘Natural Encounters’ explores the many different strategies artists have used to approach, interpret or respond to nature.
It brings together drawings, paintings, sculpture, sound art, photographs and prints by a wide range of artists working across the last four centuries including Jan Brueghel, Halima Cassell, Helen Chadwick, Thomas Gainsborough, Andy Goldsworthy, Utagawa Hiroshige, Tania Kovats, Veronica Ryan, J.M.W. Turner, and many more.
In a technology-driven society and at a time of unprecedented climate change, the exhibition raises fundamental questions around the role of nature in art as well as its potential to help us reflect on our own psyches, current ecological issues and our ongoing relationship with the natural world we inhabit.
Laura will be live in the galleries and will lead us on a tour via Zoom. The event will be quite informal and open to all! Sign-up for your free place via Eventbrite.
