Venue Kirkstall Abbey
Come along to a talk on the History of Herbals at Kirkstall Abbey.
Herbals, books containing names and descriptions of plants, date back thousands of years and were some of the first literature to have been written.
This talk will introduce you to the herbals that can be found in Leeds Libraries’ collections, including famous works by Rembert Dodoens, John Gerald and Nicholas Culpeper. There will also be an opportunity to see some of the books in person and experience some of the fascinating illustrations and writings up close.
This is a free talk in the Colonel North Room, Kirkstall Abbey Visitor Centre. No prior booking is required.
